Mounjaro – Who Can Get It?
Who Can Get It on the NHS?
NHS England has outlined the eligibility criteria for receiving Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®). The distribution will occur in phases, prioritising those most in need. In Phase 1, only individuals with serious health conditions will be eligible to receive it on the NHS. This policy is consistent across England.
To qualify for Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®), you must:
Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or more, and
Have at least four of the following health issues:
High blood pressure
High cholesterol or fat levels in your blood
Sleep apnoea (trouble breathing while sleeping)
Heart disease
Type 2 diabetes
For more detailed information, please refer to the official NHS guidance: NHS Guidance on Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®).
If you believe you meet the criteria, please send a message to the practice via the website under medication queries. The GP will review your records and contact you.
For Nottinghamshire, all management for weight loss and Mounjaro will require a GP referral to an NHS Weight Loss Clinic. This will include diet and lifestyle programmes, including exercise, which patients must commit to.
